Summary of Changes: The policy revision allows coverage/reimbursement for otherwise medically necessary services and supplies rendered in emergency situations by an unauthorized provider. Billed charges will be paid less an appropriate copayment/cost-share for all medically necessary care up until such times as an appropriate and/or legally authorized transfer can be initiated by the contractor.
