Summary of Changes: While not specifically mandated by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), once passed into law, the TRICARE Young Adult (TYA) Program will markedly mimic the extended dependent coverage up to age 26 coverage provided under the PPACA. The TYA Program will provide extended dependent coverage for qualified military dependents who age out of TRICARE coverage at age 21 (age 23 if a full-time college student) and provide premium-based TRICARE Standard/Extra coverage up to age 26. This change is published in conjunction with Feb 2008 TOM Change 38.
