1.0 DESCRIPTION
Protein sparing fast diets
using predigested protein.
2.0 POLICY
Nonsurgical treatment of obesity,
morbid obesity, dietary control or weight control may not be cost-shared. Charges
associated with liquid protein diets may not be cost-shared. This
includes the cost of predigested protein, physician’s visits and
testing performed in conjunction with the diet.
3.0 POLICY CONSIDERATIONS
Treatment of complications
as a result of the diet are subject to the regulatory provisions
on complications from noncovered treatment.
