1.0 APPLICABILITY
This policy is mandatory for
reimbursement of services provided by network and non-network providers.
However, alternative network reimbursement methodologies are permitted
when approved by the Defense Health Agency (DHA) and specifically
included in the network provider agreement.
3.0 POLICY
Physicians of the NHSC may
be assigned to areas where there is a shortage of medical providers.
These physicians are prohibited from accepting TRICARE payments,
but the entities to which they are assigned are eligible for payment.
The names of such physicians are available from the PHS, Department
of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
