The Special Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants, and Children Overseas provides supplemental foods and nutrition education to members of the armed forces assigned outside the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories and possessions and to eligible civilians serving with, employed by, or accompanying the armed forces outside the U.S. and its territories and possessions. This program is governed by 10 U.S.C. 1060a and CFR Part 199.23. The benefit is similar to the benefit provided under the U.S. Department of Agriculture administered Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program.
